Description:
A mixed media painting on textured paper depicting a lone purple swamphen foraging among grassy reeds at the edge of a calm lake on a misty morning. Dark tree silhouettes and soft reflections frame the quiet water under a soft blue and pale yellow sky.
Artist statement: I created this piece after some frosty morning walks around the local lake in the heart of winter. This scene depicts a lone swamphen and the silhouettes of trees behind the fog that had not yet lifted. I really wanted to capture the steam coming off the water where the sun had started to hit and the feeling of a crisp yet beautiful morning walking alone with one's thoughts.
