When putting together an art exhibition the artist must consider and execute so many things. Frames that suit both the work and the space, hanging, the layout of work within the space, self promotion and sometimes and exhibition opening also.
This time is a little different. My beachcombing exhibition is being shown in the Garner Lane windows beside the Dandenong library instead of the usual gallery space.
These windows give the artist an opportunity to create dioramas and 3D elements to the work. In my case I have been able to create a blend of traditional 2D art display and 3D museum style educational tools. Allowing me to bring together my love of both art and museum.
The windows also opens art up to a wider audience. People who may not normally visit galleries. Members of the Dandenong community, parents with children and visitors to the library and local cafes.
I hope that my display can get people curious. Not just about my work but about our Victorian beaches and environment.
